Orionids Meteor Shower 2026
Up to 20 meteors an hour at peak under dark skies, from debris left by Halley's Comet. Visible from both hemispheres. The Moon is 76% lit on the peak night, so only the brightest meteors will cut through — worth watching after the Moon sets.
What it means
Meteor showers are the sky at its most democratic — no equipment, no chart, no appointment. Find a dark spot, let your eyes adjust for twenty minutes, and look up.
