The 1st house begins at the Ascendant, the degree of the zodiac rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth. Everything about how you present yourself sits here: physical type, manner, energy and your instinctive approach to anything new.
Because the Ascendant moves through all twelve signs in a day, this house is the most time-sensitive part of a chart. Without an accurate birth time it cannot be read.
